VALUE retailer Discount UK is to take a unit at Clayton Square shopping centre in Liverpool city centre
Clayton Square owner, Land Securities, has signed up Discount UK for a 10,000 sq ft unit fronting onto Great Charlotte Street.
Discount UK has agreed to take a 10-year lease on the premises.
James Larmuth, Land Securities’ portfolio manager, said: “The tough economic climate has led to huge consumer demand for value.
“We have worked hard to ensure that our retailers represent the needs of our customers and we strongly believe that Discount UK brings affordability and choice to Clayton Square shoppers.”
Owned by Poundworld, Discount UK sells products priced between 28p and £25.
The announcement marks the first time Discount UK has opened a store in Liverpool and it follows the company’s pledge in August to create 1,800 jobs through new store openings.
Land Securities is also the owner of the nearby St John’s shopping centre.
