Chamber boss hails full house for annual dinner

MORE than 500 dinner guests packed Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral last night for the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner.

Attendees at the event included guest of honour David Frost, retiring director general of the British Chambers of Commerce, and main speaker Charlotte Hogg, head of retail distribution and intermediaries at Santander.

Chamber chief executive Jack Stopforth said: “It was a full house on a night when there were several other competing events, so we are delighted people chose to support the Chamber in these numbers.”

The cathedral was decorated with a motor racing theme, with a Formula 1 car displayed in the nave.

Mr Stopforth said: “We have had an extraordinary year, and membership has held steady despite all the economic doom and gloom.”

He used his speech to call for a renewed push to secure a cruise terminal for the city’s waterfront and for the Government’s proposed Green Investment Bank to be sited in the city.
