Halewood Range Rover Evoque tops BBC TopGear Magazine awards
HALEWOOD’S Range Rover Evoque has earned its 34th award since its launch this year, with success in the ultimate “petrol head’s” bible, the BBC TopGear magazine.
It was named top SUV (sports utility vehicle), 2011 Car of the Year, and named by presenter and programme doyen Jeremy Clarkson as his favourite car of the year.
“It’s brilliant,” he said.
The Evoque is featured in all 29 international editions of the December magazine, which has an estimated readership of 12m.
Editor-in-chief and head of the judging panel, Charlie Turner, said: “Judging takes a lot of time, coffee and shouting.
“But, strangely, when it came to the choosing of the overall winner, the yelling softened to agreement.
“Universal approval from the most opinionated minds in the industry is almost unheard of. Which gives you some idea of just how good the Range Rover Evoque really is.”
Land Rover global brand director John Edwards expressed his “excitement” at the latest award.
