Ryanair adds two new routes to Liverpool John Lennon airport network

RYANAIR is adding two more routes to its Liverpool base this March.

The no-frills carrier will launch a daily flight to Barcelona’s main El Prat airport, and a twice weekly service to the southern Spanish resort of Almeria in Andalucia, both commencing on March 25.

Almeria flights will operate each Thursday and Sunday and single fares for both routes will start at £29.99.

A new Barcelona link will complement Ryanair’s existing service to Reus, near the Spanish city.

The additional services mean Ryanair, the second biggest operator by passenger numbers at Liverpool John Lennon airport, will provide 40 routes from the city, serviced by five aircraft. Meanwhile, the airline has announced it will add 25p to all bookings from next week to cover the cost of the European emissions trading system (ETS) green tax scheme.

Ryanair, which will bring in the levy from January 17, described the ETS as an “eco-looney tax”.
