Cheviot Investment Symposium to bring 150 fund managers to Liverpool

MORE than 150 financial advisers and fund managers are to attend a major investment conference in Liverpool.

The Cheviot Investment Symposium will take place on Thursday, February 2. It is being staged by the city’s newest asset management company, Cheviot Asset Management.

The symposium, which is being organised by Liverpool office partner and Intermediary director Mark Ewer, will see seven keynote speakers address delegates on issues including technology, equity funds, hedge funds and emerging markets.

Cheviot’s Ned Naylor-Leyland will talk about precious metals while his colleague Alan McIntosh will give an economic overview.

Delegates from across the UK including fund managers and independent financial advisers will attend the event, which is being held at Liverpool Town Hall.

Mr Ewer said: “This will be the first of a series of annual conferences to be held in the city and which will cover a range of topics, giving financial advisers the very latest thinking on assets and investments.

“We have IFAs from across the UK represented at the event, as well as a number of life companies.

“Cheviot Liverpool has already established eight strategic partnerships with IFAs across the north of England – relationships which have helped us to surpass all expectations in reaching the £100m mark for funds under management within six months of opening the new office.”

News of the symposium comes less than a month after Cheviot’s chairman, former Royal Bank of Scotland chief executive Sir George Mathewson, visited Liverpool and told city leaders that he expected Cheviot’s Liverpool office to double in size in the next 12 months.

Cheviot Asset Management opened the office at 5 St Paul’s Square, Liverpool, at the end of May.

The senior partner in Liverpool, Simon Walker, said: “The symposium is part of our strategic intention to establish Cheviot as one of the first choices for IFAs seeking support for their clients’ investment strategies.”
