New network for women in digital sector

A NEW group for women working in the digital sector in Merseyside will hold its first meeting on Monday.

Women in Digital and Information Technology (Widgit) is a free and informal networking group for women working with digital technology or social media.

Its first event will be held from 5.30pm, at Bold St Coffee, in Bold Street, Liverpool.

Organiser Mandy Phillips said: “All will be welcomed whether you work or play in digital or IT.

“This event will not try to teach you about digital or IT on a ‘How do I . . . ’ basis, but that we can probably point you in the direction of places that can.”

Widgit is run in partnership with OpenLabs, at Liverpool John Moores University.

Widgits is the latest in a series of events organised by members of the city’s digital community. They include next month’s Social Media Cafe.
