Consul General visit to build trade links with South China

HM Consul General for the South China region of Guangzhou is visiting Merseyside tomorrow as part of a bid to increase trade links.

Alastair Morgan covers the South China regions of Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Hainan, Hunan, Jiangxi and his visit follows a trade mission last autumn by Liverpool Cllr Nick Small and Mike Taylor, deputy chief executive of regeneration agency Liverpool Vision.

Cllr Small, cabinet member for employment and skills, said: “Given that the Liverpool Chinese community has good links in South China there is an appetite to pursue this further, particularly in China’s second and third tier cities.

“The visit from Consul General Morgan to Liverpool is a first step to understanding the opportunities to develop links with Southern China.”

The itinerary includes talks on the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Liverpool next month and a round table with local firms eager to do business with China.
