SOMETIMES that old maxim of the customer always being right doesn’t apply.

Such is Kathryn Mullen’s reputation as a personal trainer, she can afford to turn down those clients that simply aren’t prepared to put the work in.

Since 2010, she has been running her own Liverpool-based health and fitness business – Dream Body Personal Training.

A former champion bodybuilder, Ms Mullen is using her expertise and personal experience to help people become fitter and healthier.

And while she stresses she makes her workouts enjoyable, she insists clients must be prepared to make the effort to get the best results.

“When I first started the business I think I was trying to do to much,” said Ms Mullen.

“I found I was chasing up clients who were not really that interested. I will invest time and effort in people who are prepared to give some back.

“There are some people who think I can just flick a switch and make them fitter.

“I don’t push people too hard – what I say is that it is about not training harder, but smarter.”

The 36-year-old mother-of-one has a number of competitive bodybuilders on her books as well as a number of people who just want to be healthier.

She is now running regular fitness sessions for staff at Merseyside Special Investment Fund (MSIF) in Liverpool city centre and she is keen to do more work in the corporate arena.

So impressed are the people at MSIF that some have written personal testimonials about Ms Mullen’s work.

“I had a friend who worked at MSIF and she helped me get a foot in the door there,” she said.

“I have been doing regular sessions there since November 2010 – we do circuit training.

“I have had great feedback from the group there and I would definitely like to do more corporate work.”
