GAMING giant Sony has given its backing to a push to encourage young people to consider a career in video games.
The company, which employs hundreds in Wavertree, joined the “I Heart Gaming” event at North Liverpool Academy yesterday.
In September the academy will launch a school dedicated to the gaming and digital sector. The Studio aims to give 14-19 years old the skills they need to make a career in video gaming.
The school will also help to address the skills gap in the sector by ensuring firms can tap into a pool of skilled talent locally.
Workshops and presentations encouraged delegates to gain hands-on experience of 3D design, interactive TV and gaming, game creation, and designing mobile apps.
Other companies taking part yesterday included app developer Apposing, video games outsourcing firm Catalyst and Liverpool games studio Setgo Games.
