TRANSPORT authority Merseytravel has created a work academy for bus drivers.
In support of the Government’s Get Britain Working drive it worked with Warrington Business School, transport company Stagecoach Merseyside and Job Centre Plus.
Twelve candidates were chosen after a five-week course at the authority’s Mann Island HQ who will be interviewed by Stagecoach for any current vacancies.
Two of the original 12 have already secured employment.
Merseytravel now hopes to roll out this initiative by working with other transport sector employers and Job Centre Plus offices to offer further job specific training in the future.
