Bootle marine safety firm International Safety Products (ISP) has secured a partnership with one of the world’s leading manufacturers of marine communication devices.
ISP has been named the sole UK distribution partner for communications and safety at sea specialist Ocean Signal.
This deal will see ISP distributing the entire range of the Margate-based firm’s handheld communication devices used in emergency situations at sea.
It includes the smallest personal locator beacon in the world – Ocean Signal’s rescueME PLB1 – which was launched at last week’s London Boat Show.
Other products boosting ISP’s portfolio include Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRBs), Search and Rescue Transponders (SART) and hand portable radiotelephones.
ISP Sales Director Geoff Billington said the move will help to position ISP as one of the premier marine safety brands in the world.
“This range of products provide commercial shipping, fishing and recreational users with the confidence they need to be safe at sea.” said Mr Billington.
“They offer exceptional value, meeting or exceeding international technical and safety standards.
“Above all they provide users with the confidence to know it will work to, and beyond, their expectations when it is most needed.”
ISP is the largest manufacturer of inflatable marine life jackets in the world producing more than 150,000 lifejackets a year.
The firm also delivers marine survival equipment, including specialist tactical vests and waistcoats, Intrepid immersion suits and Duarry Challenger inflatable liferafts.
It was bought in 2008 by Mr Billington and Managing Director John Rogers with backing from Merseyside Special Investment Fund.
