Big Chip Awards roadshow tonight for creative and digital firms

DIGITAL and creative firms who want to enter this year’s Big Chip Awards are being invited to a roadshow tonight for more information.

The Big Chip team is attending tonight’s Creative Liverpool event at Elevator Bar, in Upper Parliament Street, to tell people more about how to enter and what makes a winning entry.

The awards, now in their 15th year, honour firms from the north of England who have excelled in their use of digital technology from apps to video games. They are open to any company or organisation that has launched a digital initiative or hit a key milestone on an existing project.

Winners in 2012 included Liverpool design firm Smiling Wolf and Knowsley technology group Cybertill.

For its second year running, the awards will be partnering with publishing group Trinity Mirror’s titles, the Liverpool Post, the Manchester Evening News and the Newcastle Journal.

New categories this year include the Big Chip Offbeat Award to recognise “the weird and wonderful” in the sector. It will be chosen by popular vote from a shortlist chosen by the judges.

Shaun Fensom, chairman of organiser Manchester Digital, said: “The Big Chip Awards continue to grow, and last year we had an excellent range of submissions from across Merseyside.

“We are hoping that this trend will continue with more of the area’s excellent digital companies entering the awards to achieve the industry recognition they deserve for their innovative and creative projects.”
