Knowsley council jobs drive helps almost 200 youngsters find work

ALMOST 200 unemployed youngsters have found work at a jobs fair organised by Knowsley council.

Its Backing Young Knowsley campaign offered unemployed 18-24 year-olds details of more than 450 job vacancies last week.

As a result, 195 found a job and have started work immediately. More job offers are expected as employers continue with interviews over the next couple of weeks.

Cllr Graham Morgan, Knowsley’s cabinet member for regeneration economy and skills said: “We’re thrilled with the results of this campaign as it’s really made a difference for many young people in Knowsley.

“To get 195 young people into a job in one day is a remarkable achievement. And we’re expecting that more job offers will follow in the next couple of weeks.”

Nick Kavanagh, Knowsley’s executive director for regeneration, economy and skills, added: “The approach we’ve taken is unique. With such a positive outcome, we’ll be organising more in the future.”
