MEAT products producer Tulip is to create 270 new jobs in Wirral just a few months after announcing the closure of another factory in the borough.
In a £12m investment the company will create what it calls a “state-of-the-art sausage production facility” in Bromborough.
There will also be potential for future growth which would create additional jobs at the site.
Peter Judge, divisional managing director of Tulip, added: “We are delighted to be able to announce our plans to redevelop our Bromborough production facility and I would like to thank Wirral Council and the Northwest Development Agency (NWDA) for their continued support.
“Clearly there is an awful lot of work to do before the new facility will be up and running but we are confident that we will be in a position to begin producing sausages at Bromborough in the first half of 2010.”
In April, Tulip announced the closure of its sliced cooked meat operation at Bromborough with the loss of 300 jobs.
