CPUK starts work on Premium Bond HQ

WEST Lancashire-based Construction Partnership UK (CPUK) has started work on a new £2.6m development that will be the new home for ERNIE of Premium Bond fame.

The development at the NS&I (National Savings & Investments) site in Marton, Blackpool, includes an office for ERNIE, the Electronic Random Number Indicator Equipment that generates the winning Premium Bond numbers each month.

The new two-storey block being built by CPUK is an extension to an existing building on the site, on the outskirts of Blackpool.

The contract also includes improvements to raise the overall BREEAM rating of the completed building.

It will take 40 weeks to complete the work.

Skelmersdale-based CPUK has been involved in a number of major office development projects across the north-west of England, including the creation of a £4m business park in Eccles, Greater Manchester, for property giant Peel Holdings.

It also built Métier Property Holdings’ White Moss Business Park – a £12.5m project for the Cheshire-based commercial property expert – on a prime site on the outskirts of Skelmersdale, close to the M58.

Steve Burke, managing director of CPUK, said: “We are delighted to be working on this project for such a high-profile Government agency.

“We believe our reputation in the North West for delivering high-quality work, on time and to budget, was a major factor in securing this contract.”

CPUK is involved in projects across the North-West in all sectors, and has recently started on site on four new jobs in the region, worth around £13m.

They include a 60-bed care home in Southport for Melton Healthcare. The Birch Abbey development is worth £3.5m.

And its construction team has begun preparation work on a £6m- plus luxury private residential scheme, on the outskirts of Blackburn.

The firm has also sealed a £600,000 contract with construction giant Costain on a PFI water treatment project in Greater Manchester.

Mr Burke added: “Here at CPUK, it is all about sticking to our core values and making sure we continue to provide an exceptional service for our customers.

“Almost 80% of our work is carried out on a repeat or negotiated basis; we believe that sends out a strong message to the industry about CPUK and the high level of service we provide.”
