GVA Grimley calls for ELR review

PROPERTY consultants GVA Grimley are calling for a change in the focus of existing Employment Land Reviews (ELRs).

ELRs provide the basis for judging the amount, type and location of future land provision for employment uses prior to planning decisions. GVA has published a report on the subject – Planning for Prosperous Economies: Maximising the role of the Non B Sector.

ELRs currently only relate to part of the demand for employment land as they exclude demand from sectors including retail and tourism, education, and health, which the firm says account for a significant part of the working population.

GVA’s Gerry Hughes said: “It is clear that the ELR process needs to be more extensive.”
