Knowsley Business Improvement District plan submitted to council

PLANS to set up a Business Improvement District (BID) to cover Knowsley’s business and industrial park have been submitted to Knowsley Council.

Knowsley Business Watch (KBW), which was set up 20 years ago to combat crime on the business parks and industrial estates, surveyed 85 firms across the borough.

They voted in favour of the proposal by five to one.

KBW also compiled a wish- list of services companies would like to see provided under the BID.

Most popular were CCTV cameras, single point of contact estate management, mobile security patrols and alarm response, andŠ crime intelligence briefings.

The Business Watch board took their findings to the council with a request for funding to set up a formal vote.

No answer has yet been received but the council has promised to underwrite the KBW until a decision is made.

Business Watch chair, David Hall, said: “I believe a BID is vital for the future provision of safe and well-managed business parks and industrial estates.”
