Wirral property auction raises almost £2m

WIRRAL property auction house Smith and Sons has achieved sales of almost £2m at its latest event.

Held at the Village Hotel in Bromborough, the auction offered 29 lots.

Homes in need of refurbishment and repair proved to be of most interest, appealing for both investment or owner occupation purposes.

Houses with guide prices ranging from £30,000 to £200,000 were snapped up, resulting in a 76% success rate overall and 90% success rate for houses in need of repair.

Houses and bungalows in Heswall, Wallasey and Moreton generated a flurry of bids culminating in final prices above the guide price.

Auctioneer Chris Johnson said: “We were delighted to offer one of our most varied catalogues for some time, and the increased levels of interest prior to the sale translated well with good sales achieved on the day.

“There is clearly an upsurge in demand.”
