West Lancs business park aims to be carbon neutral

A BUSINESS park in Burscough is aiming to be the first zero carbon park in West Lancashire.

Merlin Business Park, in Ringtail Road, offers 28 units totalling more than 70,000 sq ft.

Its tenants include a mix of consumer brands, local manufacturers and technology firms.

Owner George Bond has installed a number of features aimed at achieving the carbon neutral goal.

These include a sustainable drainage system, a recycling bay offering centralised waste disposal, and solar panels on the business units.

Mr Bond also wants to install a wind turbine on the site.

He said: “We all talk about becoming energy-efficient but what are we all actually doing to achieve this goal?

“I am determined to continue to develop this proposition and strive to reduce the park’s carbon footprint.

“We provide a solution for forward-thinking businesses, offering them a 21st- century location to maximise their day-to-day activity,” he added.
