THE quoted figure is probably on the low side for this Daily Post columnist.
He started his working life as a trainee quantity surveyor, but gave it up to do a social studies degree at the University of Liverpool and try his hand at writing.
Mr Redmond is the soap opera entrepreneur who sold his Childwall- based television production firm, Mersey TV, after a string of successes that included Brookside, Hollyoaks and Grange Hill.
More recently, Mr Redmond stepped into the breach when Liverpool Culture Company went through a difficult time after the late cancellation of the Mathew Street festival two years ago. He is credited with steering the city through what turned out to be its successful Capital of Culture year.
