PAUL McCartney’s wealth has taken quite a battering in recent years. But – not withstanding the £24m cost of his divorce from Heather Mills – most of his losses have been purely on paper as his wealth fell from a reported £800m to a court-assessed £400m, before he wrote a big cheque to his ex- wife.
The former Beatle made about £15,000 a day throughout 2008 as live shows and royalties brought in more than £5m.
Sir Paul’s £30m art collection, which includes work by Renior and Picasso, will have held its value better than his property portfolio which had been slightly more than his art before the property market slump.
