The 35,000-mile trip of a lifetime

THE first Clipper Round the World Yacht Race – 35,000 miles of it – took place in 1996 and now comprises 10 boats, each adopted by a city.

The yachts race between 14 ports on five continents before finishing in Liverpool, on July 5, 2008.

Those over 60 must have a doctor’s permission. Cost per person is from £3,400 for the shortest leg, plus £2,950 training; full circumnagivation is £27,000.
