HAIRDRESSER Bryan Foy is known for his sense of style – and for sharing it with other people at his salon.

So it comes as no surprise to discover that his home at the Albert Dock is ultra-stylish; spacious and done out in contemporary colours and designs, complemented by spectacular river views.

Bryan has lived there for almost four years, and chose it for its location and history.

He says: “The Albert Dock is just beautiful – it’s a listed building, full of history and really spectacular to walk around. But, as well as all the history, you have the modern advantages of the shops and bars and restaurants, as well.”

Bryan’s salon, Zoo, is in Hackins Hey, off Dale Street, in Liverpool, so the location of his apartment is also convenient for him to walk to work.

The apartment itself sits on the second floor of The Colonnades, and comes with a 24-hour concierge and parking – other big plus points. Then there is the sheer size of the place.

Bryan says: “It’s 1,000 square feet, which for a one-bedroomed place is huge. Some of the newer ones with two bedrooms aren’t this big – that’s one of the advantages of the warehouses.”

The space means that, as well as the usual rooms, Bryan also has a large hallway – great for parties – and a utility room and cloakroom.

The lounge is decorated simply in off-white, with maple floors and cream sofas. The ceilings are vaulted exposed brick – another beautiful feature of many warehouse apartments. The ceilings are also very high, giving a sense of space, especially when the room is flooded with light from the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Bryan has added his own touches with artwork such as a highly-polished aluminium square on the wall, which reflects the sunlight. He says: “It’s quite hard to describe, but it works really well! I like to think that the place is stylish and contemporary, but quite homely as well.”

The kitchen and lounge are open plan, but separated by an island breakfast bar with chairs. The kitchen, meanwhile, features high-gloss units and a huge American-style fridge.

The bathroom has white carpet and a huge shower, with walls that are painted white and tiles in midnight blue and chrome.

The bedroom is carpeted in cream, and comes with a built-in platform bed with a six-foot leather headboard, which faces out to make the most of the stunning river views. Bryan also has a bistro-style table and chairs in front of the window.

He says: “The views really are amazing. They are never the same two days in a row. It’s great to sit here and look out of the window and watch the world go by, especially on a Sunday afternoon. The river views are definitely one of the very best things about this place, there is always something going on.”

Bryan has now decided to put his apartment on the market, after four years of pleasure from it. He says: “It has been great; I have really enjoyed living in the Albert Dock. But I am entering the next stage in my life and need to move on and find somewhere new. I am also planning to expand Zoo as a brand as well – Liverpool is growing and changing, and we have to grow and change with it.”
