Dads at the fashion front

Being a dad doesn’t mean surrendering style. Emma Pinch reports

DOES someone stand at the turnstile to fatherhood handing out compulsory uniforms of Ralph Lauren shirts and jeans?

As Gok Wan tells his female makeover subjects time and time again until his specs steam over, getting to a certain age doesn’t mean waving goodbye to fashion for ever.

While some further reaches of the style spectrum – anything with cartoons on or stuff T4 pop presenters might wear as a rule of thumb – is better ignored, there’s plenty to still be found in on-trend shops like Urban Outfitters, Jack Jones and Drome to add a bit of snap and crackle to dad dressing.

* THIS week’s fashion shoot took place on board Mersey Ferries flagship the Royal Daffodil, which has undergone a multi-million pound refit and can be hired for private events.

It also took in the newly-opened Mersey Ferries Pier Head Terminal, which also boasts a cafe with outdoor seating.
