Fashion: Let Matalan keep the kids cool this summer

Yours could be the most elegant kids in the holiday resort, with a little help from Emma Pinch

AS OF this week, the little darlings will soon be home for the summer. It’s a time of laughter, bonding, learning – and spending lots of money.

The one thing you don’t have to empty your purse on is summer clothes, with supermarkets and the cut-price clothing stores overflowing with low-priced clothing.

Matalan, created by Liverpool docker’s son John Hargreaves, still holds its own next to rivals Tesco and Primark. Its high summer range of children’s clothes is nicely-designed and won’t break the bank.

With Winnie the Pooh themed shorts and T-shirt sets for just £8 for boys and girls, and £8 summer dresses for older girls, you can’t go wrong.

The older children’s clothing is nicely on trend, bright and summery, like the gorgeous floral swing top featured on today’s Style City front cover.
