Festive glitter from days gone by

As the Christmas lights start to twinkle, Peter Grant opens up a special photo album featuring Yuletides of Yesteryear

IT IS impossible to ignore, Merseyside has started to make merry . . . the seasonal switch-ons, the opening of glittering grottos and our shops delightfully dripping in decorations have declared the festive season is officially here.

At the Daily Post, we have captured the ghosts of Christmases past every year, thanks to our team of photographers.

They were out and about braving the snow blizzards, warming to school Nativity plays and snapping the arrival of Santa Claus by train, plane, boats and automobiles.

Oh, deer . . . and don’t forget his driving pal, Rudolf.

In our new publication, A Very Mersey Christmas – A Stocking Full of Memories, you will find 100 years of festive fun with pictures, poems and even old advertisements from the archives of the Daily Post and Echo.

Turn these 84 pages and you will go back in time to the turn of the century.
