LiveRead 2010: Watch celebrated Liverpool authors reading their own work throughout LiveRead

THERE'S nothing quite like hearing the voice of an author reading their own work.

With this in mind, these LiveRead videos, made available throughout 15th-19th March, allow readers and followers of our online literary festival to not only hear their favourite authors - but to see them as well.

Acclaimed horror writer Ramsey Campbell starts off the week with an excerpt from his chilling short story Laid Down, which features scenes set at the Victoria Monument at Liverpool's Derby Square.

Next up is Wirral-based author Caroline Smailes, whose poignant new book Like Bees to Honey centres around both her native Malta and the likes of Liverpool's renowned catholic cathedral.

Crimewriter and solicitor Martin Edwards makes an appearance on day three, reading an extract from his latest novel The Serpent Pool, part of his Lake District series.

Children's author and 24 Hour Party People scriptwriter Frank Cottrell Boyce keeps up the momentum on Thursday, letting adults and children alike into a treat with his animated re-telling of an excerpt from his Carnegie Media nomination Cosmic.

Liverpool FC historian and steam train fanatic Stephen Done's eloquent rendering of an extract of his Inspector Vignoles Mystery The Torn Curtain finishes off the series in style.
