Liverpool's Mathew Street is party central for music fans

Mathew Street

LIVERPOOL will again be the capital of live music this August Bank Holiday as it plays host to Europe’s biggest free city centre music festival.

As well as the main outdoor stages and a packed fringe programme there is plenty to see and do this weekend.

Tomorrow, St John’s Market is staging its own entertainment for visitors to the Mathew Street festival.

The World in One Market event will see performances start with Sandra Currie from Sentimental Journey at 11am followed by Sudesh Kharona at 1.30pm and Nigera Riva Steel Drums at 2.30pm.

Visitors will be able to leave their mark on a World Map and meet traders from around the world.

Zeligs in Liverpool One is giving festival-goers something to twist and shout about this Bank Holiday by creating some limited edition Beatles-inspired cocktails exclusively for the Mathew Street Festival weekend.

The cocktails are inspired by the Fab Four and include Here Comes the Sun, influenced by George Harrison’s love of Indian culture, and the piquant Sergeant Peppers which is a fiery take on the classic Bloody Mary.
