Autumn inspires Liverpool Daily Post Flickr group

Laura Jones finds parks are perfect for Flickr pictures

THE golden tones of autumn and Merseyside’s prettiest parks have inspired this week’s Flickr photographers to root out their warmest woollies and capture these gorgeous images.

Animals and foliage are at the heart of the compositions which best convey the sense of summer disappearing and winter moving in.

Making the most of the recent bright weather and strong sunlight, the photographers Lady.bracknell, Anthony Beyga, Julie Reynolds and Scouse Smurf have caught the changing of the seasons using the Merseyside’s parks as a backdrop.

Lady.bracknell's “Reflections of autumn foliage”, taken using a Pentax X90 in Sefton Park, turns the duck pond into a pool of molten gold, surrounding a very serene looking seagull.

On the Daily Post web group, she explained the shot was not colour enhanced.

“The only thing I've done is straighten the gull up. The water really was that colour,” she wrote.

Anthony Beyga also frames an animal at the centre of his seasonal shot.

In his photograph, My Lovely Horse, taken on what he described as a “frosty morning Croxteth Park” a lone pony takes on an almost magical aspect.

The sun’s rays rainbow through the trees, but there’s a cold frost on the ground.

The horse’s dappled white coat almost looks as if it has been matched to the white of the frozen grass.

Anthony took the picture using his Sony DSC-W50.

Calderstones Park, Liverpool, was the destination for juliereynolds1956 who caught this superb photograph of burning red leaves.

Julie wrote on our web forum: “It’s my favourite season, I just love the colours. Second [favourite] is spring oh then there’s the wonderful summer but have to get up too early and bed too late, and who cannot love winter crisp cold and ever so white?”

She used her Cannon EOS 5D to take this eye-catching abstract view on October 7.

Completing our tour of Merseyside parks, Scouse Smurf set out for Sefton Park armed with his Fujifilm finepix S8000fd.

Among the orange, gold and amber hues, the vibrant blue of an old wrought-iron bench caught his eye.

He explained on our Flickr web forum: “It just screamed at me to take a pic.”

Littered with fallen leaves, his softly lit scene is a gentle and inviting take on autumn.
