Bond girl Gemma Arterton causes havoc with the menfolk in Brit romp Tamara Drewe

THE film world’s most enduring image of Gemma Arterton, below and right, is probably of her coming to a sticky end, naked and covered in crude oil, in the Daniel Craig Bond movie, Quantum of Solace.

But, after her short but memorable 007 appearance as MI6 officer Strawberry Fields, the actress turned her attentions to a role more down to earth and far less fatal.

In last year’s big screen comedy Tamara Drewe – based on Posy Simmonds’s graphic novel – she plays the ugly duckling turned babe who causes havoc among admiring menfolk when she returns to her childhood Dorset village.
