Emma Johnson discovers a classy taste of Latin America

The pollo Cancun was magnificent. Soft white chicken breast that almost oozed, it was so moist. The cream cheese went perfectly with the sauce, although a bit more garlic and bacon would not have gone amiss. To accompany, we had the choice of Mexican fried rice or patatas bravas with chorizo and red onion.

Both of us had gone for the patatas bravas option and it was a great choice. Done in their jackets, they were so tasty.

The enchiladas, which actually turned out to be one massive enchilada stuffed with chicken and doused in an almost day-glo orange sauce, were delicious - though, as my husband diplomatically put it, "Very different" to my own.

Still not full after all that gorging, we turned our attention to the desserts in search of something sweet. Sadly, here is where my dedication to Mexico fizzled out and I eschewed the cajeta - biscuit based chocolate toffee centre topped with Savina's secret fresh cream and cinnamon - and the quebriadizo - chocolate wrapped in a tortilla, lightly brushed with cinnamon and honey, for something more classic. I ordered chocolate fudge cake (£3.95). My husband as ever asked for an assortment of ice cream which came with Kiwi (£3.75). Both were delicious.

While we waited for the bill, the maitre d' enquired if we had enjoyed our meal, which of course we had and offered a complementary tequila - one of the 15 types they offer. It would have been rude to say no, wouldn't it?
