BubbleCow
BubbleCow is a family business founded by novelist Caroline Smailes.
Caroline was born in Newcastle in 1973 but moved to the North West to study English Literature at Liverpool University. Her first two novels, In Search of Adam and Black Boxes, were published to critical acclaim by The Friday Project, an imprint of Harper Collins. Her next novel, Like Bees to Honey, is set in Liverpool and Malta, and will be published on May 27th 2010. Caroline lives on the Wirral with her husband Gary, who makes up the other half of BubbleCow, and three children. Read more about Caroline Smailes here.
Gary Smailes also has a wide experience of the publishing industry and over the past ten years has worked as a freelance writer, historian and researcher. He has an eclectic educational background with a first degree in Biology and a masters degree in Military History. Gary has written a number of history books for children including the Brave Scot and Modern Hero series. He has four books from the BattleBooks series due for publication with Hachette in 2010. He also worked closely for many years with the successful author Terry Deary as the researcher for the ever-popular Horrible Histories books. Gary has collaborated with a number of independent publishers providing editorial support and advice for fiction and non-fiction titles.
