LiveRead - our online festival celebrating writing and writers

The LiveRead online literary festival runs from March 1-3 - culminating on World Book Day.

It is a celebration of Liverpool writing and writers, both unpublished and professional, and the written word in general, and was launched last year as the first online literature festival run by a UK newspaper.

This year’s event will see the return of author readings, interviews with best-selling writers and our popular serialised story, which unravels according to your votes each day.

You can also take part in live chats with authors and writers. So far, science fiction author Steven Baxter has signed up to take part - he'll be online at lunchtime on Tuesday March 1.

Maghull-based screenwriter John Fay, who started his career on Liverpool-based soap opera Brookside and is the only UK writer working on the new series of Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood, will also be answering your questions in a live online interview.

We've got videos of Daily Post columnist and romantic fiction author Jane Costello reading from her new book, Girl On The Run, while Al’s Lads screenwriter Marc Gee will be reading from his second crime novel, Declaration of Guilt.

You can watch videos of our friendly barman mixing cocktails inspired by literature, like Ernest Hemingway's Singapore Sling.

There will also be daily book giveaways, the chance to write a complete story or a devastating first or last line in just 140 characters on Twitter, and a vote to find your favourite story, author and more.
