Music: Johnny Foreigner the one to watch

IS THE Birmingham rock band Johnny Foreigner one to watch?

It is according to Liverpool’s Barfly club, in Seel Street, where the group appears on Thursday.

They are headlining in a Levi’s OnesToWatch promotion, an organisation which boasts it is “now a reliable indicator of artists about to hit the big time”.

It first launched its LOTW programme in 2004 as a series of monthly gigs at Barfly venues across the country, and now has five monthly shows.

Previous acts include The View, the Fratellis, the Scissor Sisters, the Kaiser Chiefs and Arctic Monkeys.

Johnny Foreigner is the latest band to get the special treatment.

It consists of two lads, Alexei and Junior, and one girl Kelly and has been around for the last couple of years.

They have signed to Best Before Records and a limited release debut EP, Arcs Across the City, sold out.

The band has recently been in New York recording its first album due out later this year.

A single, Our Bipolar Friends, is to be released in March.

Supporting them will be another find by LOTW, 20-year-old Sam Isaacs, from the West Midlands.

Doors for the Liverpool Barfly session open at 7.30pm, advance tickets £5. Ticketline 0870 907 0999.
