OUTSIDERS, the fifth annual Liverpool lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender film festival, is now under way.
Running until Halloween with a midnight showing of gay zombie movie Otto; or Up with Dead People! by journalist Bruce LaBruce, the programme includes a selection of the latest and best films of the genre, including Were the World Mine, Pansy Division: Life in a Gay Rock Band, Vivere, She’s a Boy I Knew, Finn’s Girl and Breakfast with Scott.
Guests at the festival include poet and critic Roz Kaveney, filmmakers Julian Cole and Jim Hubbard, and acclaimed writer and gay activist Larry Kramer, who will appear in conversation at Fact on Saturday (with proceeds from the evening going to Liverpool Aids and HIV charity Safir House).
Outsiders is a registered charity staffed entirely by volunteers and supporting Liverpool Pride.
All are welcome at the events, with organisers hoping to build on previous successes and make Outsiders one of the biggest film festivals in the North, and help to educate and inform, to make Liverpool a more gay-friendly city.
The 2008 brochure of films is available from Fact and other venues across Merseyside. For dates, times and tickets visit www.outsiders.me
