Chance to get ‘stuck in’ to art

Walker Art Gallery

THIS Saturday, the Walker Art Gallery is hosting a free workshop to encourage young artists to be inspired by the latest contemporary talents in the art world.

Inside, Outside, Upside, Downside will take place on November 22 from 2 to 4pm.

Suitable for ages 14 to 18, youngsters will work with local artist Keiron Finnetty to explore the themes of John Moores exhibitions past and present and create unique 2D artwork.

The workshop will consist of a tour of the current John Moores 25 exhibition revealing some of the shared themes in the artists’ work, and will then be followed by a practical session when workshop attendees can really get stuck in and create their own John Moores-inspired contemporary artworks.

Lauren Gould, learning officer for National Museums Liverpool, said: “The workshop will allow young people to discover more about the artists featured in the JM25 exhibition, and learn about the themes and inspirations behind their works. We will be encouraging them to create their own paintings using the themes, colours and textures that they pick up in the exhibition.”
