Sex And The City star may appear on city stage

Kim Cattrall

SEX And The City actress, Liverpool-born Kim Cattrall, has been linked to a possible Shakespearean role at a city theatre.

The Mannequin star is rumoured to be following in the footsteps of Pete Postlethwaite, currently treading the boards of the Everyman in King Lear, by taking the female lead in Anthony and Cleopatra at the same venue.

The Hollywood actress has been linked to the role by Shakespearean actress Janet Suzman, who is coming to Liverpool to give readings at this year’s Penny Readings event at St George’s Hall, on December 7.

A press release to publicise the event stated Ms Suzman would be directing Anthony and Cleopatra at the Everyman, with Cattrall, next year.

However, the Everyman and Playhouse said the production had not been confirmed and appeared unlikely in 2009, according to Ms Cattrall’s diary commitments.

Earlier this year, rumours were rife in Stratford, Ontario, that Cattrall had been in talks to star in Anthony and Cleopatra as part of the city’s Shakepeare Festival.
