Best of water photos on show

SHORTLISTED entries for an amateur photographic competition are now on show in a city gallery.

Entrants were asked to consider the effect water has had on Merseyside's history and culture and its relevance to eco-systems and climate change.

The shortlist exhibition, entitled Hydroscapes, is at the Novas Contemporary Urban Centre, Greenland Street, until December 4.

The winners of each of three age categories will receive either £200 in vouchers or a waterproof digital camera.

The competition was organised by the University of Liverpool’s Institute for Sustainable Water, Integrated Management and Ecosystem Research.

Professor Edward Maltby, Director of the Institute for SWIMMER, said: “This competition reflects the wide variety of roles which water plays in our daily lives, and demonstrates how these roles can be perceived through a great variety of different lenses.

“The long term sustainability of our water is one of the most pressing challenges of the 21st century and this exhibition has helped people to engage with some of those issues in a new and creative way.”
