David Gest _200
IT’S third time lucky for David Gest, who, fingers crossed, seems on target to finally stage his “musical concert extravaganza” about his own life in Liverpool this weekend.
Reality TV star and friend of the stars Gest has had to postpone his tour, now coming to the Philharmonic Hall on Saturday, twice before after suffering injuries in rehearsals. And he’s proved so popular that, after the evening show at the Phil sold out, a matinee was also hastily arranged.
Aside from the man himself, Gest provides a line up of soul and Motown talent.
Rapper Coolio was originally on the bill, but is now holed up in Channel 4’s Celebrity Big Brother house for up to three weeks.
Talent including Russell Thomkins Jr and the New Stylistics, Bonnie Tyler, Peabo Bryson, Billy Paul, Freda Payne, Dorothy Moore, the Edwin Hawkins Singers and Eddie Holman will be taking to the stage in the “all singing, all dancing” show (Gest previously suffered a serious ankle injury practising a quadruple flip, so who knows what the audience is in for).
As if that wasn’t enough, some special surprise guests are promised for the shows as well.
David Gest . . . My Life! comes to the Phil on Saturday. The evening show is sold out but tickets are still available for the matinee at 2.45pm. For more information, contact the venue on 0151 709 3789 or online at www.liverpoolphil. com
