ST GEORGE’S Hall is launching a new selling exhibition programme as part of its commitment to supporting contemporary artists beyond 2008.
The hall has partnered with exceptional curators, gallerists, artist’s studio groups and arts organisations based in the region to provide visitors a snapshot of some of the most exciting work being made by artists in the UK today.
In this unique setting, visitors will be able to experience contemporary art works which can be purchased and taken home at the end of each exhibition, enabling visitors to build up their own distinctive art collection and support some of the top artists working in the UK today.
Building on the success of the Capital of Culture year, St George’s Hall will continue to introduce and support artistic talent in the North West, developing new patrons for the arts and enabling artists to continue to live and work in the region.
The first show is by artist Mimei Thompson. Internal Geometry, exhibiting from this Friday until March 8, depicts dark, mutating cosmic worlds populated by cartoon brains, clouds, probing eyeballs and curious creatures vying for attention.
Mimei Thompson studied at the Royal College of Art and the Glasgow School of Ar.
