Outdoors inside with new exhibition

A NEW exhibition called Home and Away Landscapes has opened at Artroom Gallery, in Parkgate, Wirral, until March 8.

It features the work of four contemporary landscape artists who are displaying together for the first time and are from very varied backgrounds, all with their own unique style of work.

The artists Maggie Melechi, Beth Wintgens, Lorna Wilson and Matthew Snowden’s paintings are also complemented by the location of the gallery, which is surrounded by views overlooking the Dee estuary.

Beth Wintgens and Lorna Wilson are both rapidly becoming an important abstract artist in this country, and have both, in the last few years have shown in some of the prestigious Mayfair galleries in London including the Royal Academy.

Beth’s works in Artroom range from landscape oils on canvas, to more abstract subtle contemporary works incorporating her stylised use of colour and light.

Maggie Melechi’s landscapes are taken from memory and her own interpretation, influenced by strong colours in mixed media with some reminiscent of her travels in Italy.

Artroom is at the Old Post Office, The Parade, Parkgate. Open Thursday to Sunday 12pm to 5pm, or by appointment.
