A COMEDY-DANCE duo dubbed the Reeves and Mortimer of choreography are bringing their award-winning act to the Unity Theatre.
New Art Club, made up of professional dancers Pete Shenton and Tom Rodden, describe their style as “a mixture of philosophical comedy, live art and dance, serious and silly”.
“We make dance and we make comedy at the same time,” explains Rodden. “Sometimes there’s bits of stand-up comedy in the show and sometimes the comedy derives from different situations. Other times it’s the movement itself that’s funny.”
The pair were fans of Reeves and Mortimer before forming New Art Club.
“I didn’t notice it at first but looking back I realised that they use a lot of dances in their shows,” says Rodden.
“They do some things that are funny just ecause they do them with such determination and positivity. It’s inspiring.”
THE Visible Men, Saturday, March 7, at the Unity Theatre.
