Sixties blues duo reunited with a spot at the Everyman Folk Club

BLUES duo Jim James and Raphael Callaghan are reforming for a series of gigs to mark the 40th anniversary of their best known recording.

The pair gained their five minutes of fame with the LP Gasoline, in the Liberty label.

The anthology saw their tracks alongside those of established British blues artists like Jo Ann Kelly and Tony McPhee.

The critical acclaim for Jim’s own songs on the record led to a flurry of activity, including BBC radio sessions for John Peel, Mike Raven and British blues “godfather” Alexis Korner.

A follow-up album with Korner was never released.

James has lived in the US for many years, but is making a fleeting visit to Merseyside for the duo’s spot at the Everyman Folk Club in the Everyman Bistro from 8.15pm tonight.

They will also play a concert at Southport’s Park Golf Club on October 12.

EVERYMAN Bistro Third Room, free entry but there is a collection. Details on 0151 709 3336.
