A TRIO of talented teenagers has made a historic clean sweep at the music finals of the Liverpool Performing Arts Festival.
All prizes in the music category have been awarded to girls, for only the third time in its 85-year history and the first occasion in the past 25.
Pianist of the Year was won by Hannah Parsons, 17, of Aigburth, for her performance of a piece by Chopin.
Eighteen-year-old Elizabeth Lawton, of Runcorn, was named Instrumentalist of the Year, while Voice of the Year was awarded to Stephanie Guidera, 18, of Crosby.
They follow in the footsteps of some of the city’s most celebrated artists to have made their name at Liverpool’s most long-standing annual arts festival.
Past winners include Sir Simon Rattle, Claire Sweeney, BBC Young Musician of the Year Mark Simpson and X-Factor finalist and Dancing On Ice contestant Ray Quinn.
The festival continues this week.
