A YEAR in the life of a Capital of Culture is the subject of a new exhibition at Liverpool’s 08 Place.

Six photographers based in the city have captured every single day of 2008, showcasing the architecture, arts, music, maritime heritage, fashion, football and everyday events that make Liverpool the diverse and city it is. The images, which begin with the People’s Opening of January, 2008, will be included in a book published later this year. Exhibition curator Lucy Byrne, of local arts organisation Dot-art, says: “I feel it is the perfect way for Liverpool to remember and reflect on the excitement, energy and optimism that characterised our Capital of Culture year.”

The featured photographers are Mark McNulty, Fiona Shaw, Neil Lloyd, Matt Wardle, Guy Woodland, who is publishing the collection, and Pete Carr, whose website Vanilla Days recently won Best 2008 Photoblog in Europe.

Produced in conjunction with Open Culture and printed by Moorfields Photographic, the 0151 366 2008 exhibition runs until the end of May.
