Glenn Brown to give talk at Tate Liverpool

BRITISH painter Glenn Brown is to take part in an “in conversation” event at Tate Liverpool on Tuesday, May 5.

He will be discussing his mid-career retrospective, currently displayed at the Albert Dock gallery, with novelist and social commentator Michael Bracewell.

The writer has contributed to key Glenn Brown publications, including the catalogue for his 2007 exhibition at New York’s Gagosian Gallery. He was a member of the judging panel for the 2007 Turner Prize in Liverpool.

Closing on May 10, the retrospective features the largest selection of Brown’s paintings and sculptures to date, including 28 works which have never been seen in the UK before.

The artist mimics, recreates and distorts images, turning the familiar into the unsettling.
