ACTOR and musician Carl Chase is returning to the Philharmonic Hall tomorrow night as the US singer/ songwriter Hank Williams.
Chase first played the role in 1981, but has resisted reviving it for more than 28 years.
The show focuses on the music and life of one of America’s most influential musicians, featuring a range of his songs including the hits Lovesick Blues, Cold, Cold Heart and Your Cheatin’ Heart.
It also includes a narrative delivered by Chase.
Williams was a pioneer of the honky- tonk style and his charismatic performances, succinct compositions and tragic early death, at the age of just 29, helped fuel his legend.
Chase is probably best known as one of “The Kingsway Three” from the hit Liverpool play Brick Up The Mersey Tunnels.
* A CELEBRATION of the Music of Hank Williams is at the Philharmonic Hall tomorrow. Tickets £14.50/£19.50, 0151 709 3789.
