HAPPY childhood memories are the inspiration behind the latest exhibition at Parkgate’s Artroom gallery.
North Wales-based artist Ann Bridges bases her work on recollections of playing in the garden, walking through bluebell-lined woods and making cakes for tea.
Starting points include visits to aquariums and walks along the beach, which she records in her sketchbook.
She combines painting and stencil- based printmaking processes to create vibrant images.
Bridges applies layers of ink directly to the picture surface using small hand held rollers, allowing each layer to dry before adding the next. She then wipes off areas of ink that are not quite dry and draws into the ink.
Her work is being displayed alongside that of four other artists, Alexander Slatter, Robert Wyatt, Janet Bourne and Christine Fox.
* ABSTRACT Stills and Movement runs from May 22 to June 28.
