“I also had a real stroke of luck, I wrote a song called What’s So Funny ‘Bout Peace, Love And Understanding which has been covered probably about 70 times,” reveals the 60-year-old.
“It’s never been a hit but it’s become very well known and it was on the Bodyguard soundtrack – I made a lot of money from that one!
“It came at a really fantastic time. Then I made another record, which did even better than that one.
“It’s not like I’m in competition with Coldplay, they’re not looking over their shoulders at me, but I’ve carved out a little niche and I’m happy with that.”
NICK LOWE is playing Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on May 24.
