The Fringe section of the festival will feature a daily line-up of top performers across a number of venues.
They will include Des Hopkins’s Original Guinness Jazz Band, Senegalese and Congolese music from Mamadou, and the Super Libidor Band.
Another festival highlight is the jazz film, Let's Get Lost, about the life of the late great trumpeter and singer Chet Baker, featuring footage and interviews captured on his final tour and interviews.
The movie will be shown at Southport Arts Centre, as part of the Southport Film Guild programme, on Thursday, May 28.
Running alongside the festival is the exhibition Jazz Duet, at the Atkinson Gallery.
Artist Dave Barden and photographer William Ellis use imagery of popular music, jazz and blues in their work, which is on display until June 13.
